FAQ
Why Colocation?
Put simply, colocation allows you to do more for your business, with less of your time and money, by leveraging the resources of our state-of-the art data center. Colocation eliminates the expense of building a private communications infrastructure and provides direct backbone connectivity. You can house your own equipment in our environmentally controlled, secure facility with around the clock monitoring and uninterruptible power supply. You’ll always have access to the bandwidth you need and be ready for spikes in demand. You’ll have the control to manage your web servers, or the option to use our highly trained, always available technicians. Colocation gives you the flexibility to adjust and expand your technology as your business grows, while avoiding costly up front investments.

If you have questions about colocation or want to explore if it’s right for your business, feel free to Contact Us.

The ColoSite is a 28,000 square foot data center. We do not lease space from other providers. Several providers offer our space to their customers.

Yes, just make sure it has your name in the address and send your equipment to:

The ColoSite
c/o “YOUR COMPANY NAME”
5005 W Royal Ln Suite #288,
Irving, TX 75063

We will install your server and assign one IP. If you need additional support, you must arrange for it at the time of setup. You can send a power cord or use one of ours for $5.

Yes, you just need to order a cross-connect to the other provider. Cross-connects will be completed in 48 hours or they are free.

Never. We charge one-time fees of $250 for cat5, $500 for Coax and $1000 for Fiber. And no, we don’t differentiate what is running over the cross-connects. Some companies still try to charge more for an OC-48 than an OC-3.

Tech support is $80/hr for Tier 1 Remote Hands services, and $120/hr for Tier 2 Remote Hands services.

Tier 1 includes almost all basic services, including monitored reboots, literal "remote hands" service in which we carry out your detailed instructions, and basic hardware replacements. OS support, network troubleshooting on customer equipment, and hardware/software diagnostic services are charged at the Tier 2 rate.

In both cases it is billed in 15 minute increments with only a 15 minute minimum . Many facilities that are not staffed 24/7 have a 1-4 hour minimum charge and a premium hourly fee for after hours service.

We only charge for IPs on our single server, dedicated server and 1/4 cabinet packages. All other packages include Clean, ARIN assigned IPs .

Yes, The ColoSite takes pride in offering clean IP addresses, unlike many providers who allow and even cater to spammers. If you are having problems with mail getting blocked, there is a good chance your current provider supports spam.

We are among the strictest facilities with regard to Acceptable Use Policies. If you are having problems with your current provider because of AUP violations, The ColoSite is not a good place for you. AUPs violations must be immediately resolved or the offending account is terminated. This strict policy assures that our customers won’t be affected by the actions of others.

This is important to know. This is not to say that there are not excellent colo providers that actually lease space from datacenters, but to get a feel for the honesty of the information on their site. The ColoSite owns the datacenter. There are many providers that will refer to 3000 Irving Blvd as “their colo”. To us that is the biggest compliment we can receive.

Ask about the system. It is something the data center should be proud of. The ColoSite utilizes PowerWare and Leibert UPS systems. Both are independent of each other to provide customers true redundancy.

Make sure to ask whether they are direct connections to the provider. Many providers “take liberties” when describing who their providers are. The ColoSite utilizes GigEs from multiple carriers, two respected Tier 1 providers. Our contracts are with each provider directly so we are able to quickly get in contact with the providers to resolve any issues.

We have all heard the horror story of waiting all weekend for a reboot because no one works weekends. Make sure you need one before you request one. On several occasions our techs have already completed them before a customer can update a ticket canceling it.

You are always going to get what you signed up for. As an example, if you sign up for the 5 Mbps unmetered plan you will be able to get 5 Mbps at all times. If not, submit a ticket because there is an issue. With The ColoSite you no longer have to accept that you only get 30% of the speed you purchased. On the GB packages you will be able to get 10Mbps any time you wish.

Of course. The ColoSite does not push the single server colocation on to a lower quality network.

Yes you can.

Many of our customers are gaming on this service. Since we don't dump traffic to low end providers our customers are able to enjoy our low ping times, low latency and high uptime. Sounds perfect for gaming.

No problem. We even allow you to change the pricing for your previous month. For example, if you sign up for 200GB and end up using 700GB we allow you to change not only your current month, but your previous. Changing between products is no problem, but we may not be able to change your previous month.

No, this pricing is per server. Consider the 1/4 rack as a good alternative.

Yes, for $10/month you can install a firewall up to 1U.

Yes.

We ask for 48 hours, but many of our customer have come in on short notice. With your assistance in giving complete information we can often be ready in a few hours.
